Czech Olympic collection? Made in Czech Republic
Made in Czech Republic, the connecting element of the Czech team apparel, pays a tribute to a traditional quality brand both in sports and beyond. “We are proud to represent the Czech Republic, Czech sport and the Czech industrial tradition”, said Jiří Kejval, chairman of the Czech Olympic Committee.
This means that the outwear of the Olympic collection, including the jacket with a special nanomembrane designed by the Technical University of Liberec, was made in the Czech Republic. Honouring the first Czech Winter Olympic champion Jiří Raška, athletes will once again wear the Raškovka hat, edition 2.0, also a domestic product.
This is a way of reminding the world of the many accomplishments of Czechs, both in sports and beyond.
"The Winter Olympics are held in China, which dresses almost the entire world. But Czechs can be proud of such scientists and industrialists as Otto Wichterle, Tomáš Baťa or Jaroslav Heyrovský and others. And so, for the first time since 1968, the essential and most visible parts of the Olympic apparel collection will be made in the Czech Republic. This is a way of reminding the world of the many accomplishments of Czechs, both in sports and beyond”, Kejval added.
The Made in Czech Republic label on clothing usually explains how to take care of the item. This time, however, the traditional laundry or ironing symbols have been replaced by pictograms representing the winter sports – ice hockey, skiing, bobsleigh, biathlon, and snowboarding. The motifs for the apparel were traditionally created by the academic painter Milan Jaroš. This collection was again produced by ALPINE PRO, which has cooperated with the Czech Olympic Committee since the 2010 Vancouver Games.
